Dr Camille Waring went to Goulburn Valley Grammar School before studying Biological Sciences at La Trobe University, graduating in 1997, and completing postgraduate studies in Criminology at the University of Melbourne in 1999.
In 2005, Camille moved to the United Kingdom to build a career in criminal justice but soon left the institutional world to follow a growing fascination with photography. By 2009, her Berlin street photography had been shortlisted for the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition.
Between 2012 and 2014, Camille gained attention for her offbeat, avant-garde approach to wedding photography, picking up several awards and magazine features & covers along the way. In 2013, she was nominated for Wedding Photographer of the Year in the Avant-Garde category. Two years later, she stepped away from commercial weddings to study a Master’s degree in Digital Photography and Creative Media Arts at London South Bank University. She graduated with distinction, earning top marks for her thesis.
Now based between Australia, France, and the United Kingdom, Camille holds a PhD from the Centre for Research and Education in Arts and Media (CREAM) at the University of Westminster. Working under her artistic persona, Camille founded Kitty L’Wren, an independent publishing imprint dedicated to creating limited-edition books, zines, and photo collections. Each work fuses fine art photography with essayistic writing, shaped by a distinctive aesthetic and editorial voice.Kitty L’Wren produces collectible works that invite slow looking, deep feeling, and thoughtful reflection.
